A blog inspired by the incredible women who shaped my life and, in turn, this space. Named after my grandmothers, Lily and Classie, this blog is an ode to their enduring influence and a celebration of their legacy. It’s a tribute to their legacy—a blend of practical wisdom and modern insight designed to inspire today’s woman.
Lily, my grandmother and confidante, is a beacon of grace and sophistication. Born and raised in Mississippi, where respectability is paramount, she instilled in me the values of class and poise. As a “debutante drillmaster” (a term I jokingly call her but captures her exacting standards), she was strict yet nurturing, often reminding me of the virtues of "becoming” a young lady. Her unwavering commitment to manners and elegance is a testament to her proud, alpha, and refined nature. Many admire the poise I carry today, but it is Lily's teachings that have molded me.
On the other hand, my grandmother Classie—yes, that’s her real name—brought a different flavor to my life. Fierce and vibrant, she embraced life's joys with gusto and a sense of class too. Also from Mississippi but influenced by the vibrant culture of Kansas City, her spirit and zest are traits I proudly inherit. I see so much of her in myself and wear that resemblance as a badge of honor.
Through Lily x Classy, I aim to honor both remarkable women by creating a space that inspires women from all walks of life. Blending wisdom, wit, and reality checks, it’s where class meets gutsiness, intellect meets street smarts, and tradition meets modernity. It’s about discovering balance, honoring our legacies, celebrating the strength passed down through our bloodlines, and embracing every phase of womanhood.
